Last Day of Work

9 05 2008

Finally, I had the chance to use the PC (my brother had been playing PC games for the pass few days). However, today is my last day of the 3 years work with my current company…  It’s just like another normal working day; except that there were more hand shakes with different colleagues in a day. During my lunch time, I browsed through my friend’s livejournal and saw this video.

The song is ‘Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence’ by Ryuichi Sakamoto (坂本 龍一). The first time I heard the song was a few months ago in the trailer of ‘The Leap Years’ (a Singapore movie) and started to like this song. Thanks to my friend, I finally know the name of this song. It’s a nice song for the ending of my first job. It brings back some memories of my 3 years work, good and bad. So now I’m jobless, but will start to work again in the new company next Monday (no break :-( ).

Do not know what is the mood of others during their last day of work? Should be happy for most.

Fake Anime Merchandise?

6 05 2008

Saw some Death Note nendroids selling at a price S$21.90, which was lower than the usual price of 3,000yen (around S$39).

Death Note nendroids

This was the second shop I saw selling at this price. Out of curiosity, I went in to take a look at the nendroids. Only Light nendroids were left, which were really selling at S$21.90 (too good to be true). However, the box seems to be opened by someone and used only a scotch tape to paste over the top cover. The L nendroids I saw in another shop had some black stains, which was also sold at this price.

This reminds of a local newspaper article I saw. It said that there was an increase in the numbers of fake merchandise (mostly from China) in Singapore. KKnM has some guidelines on differentiating the fake from the authentic merchandise. Here provides some precautions on buying figures online such as eBay. I do agree with what they say as I did saw a lot of ‘poor quality’ anime merchandises in Singapore, especially in some comic shops.

Did anyone ended up buying fake anime merchandise? I only bought some figures (mostly Lucky Star nendoroid petits) during my tour at Japan and pre-ordered a Moetan nendroid in Singapore (started to pay more attention to figures after the Japan tour), but currently there are no fake anime merchandises or figures in my collection (should be…).

Debu Note?

3 05 2008

Recently, Starhub Cable TV had been broadcasting Death Note anime. Although I had read the manga and watched the movies, it was my first time watching the anime. I missed one of the episodes and decided to watch it at Youtube. Browsing through the list, something caught my attention. The video was called Debu (fat) Note, a Death Note parody.

It was about fat Yagami (or ‘Light’) picking up a notebook along the street. The next day, he overheard the conversation between an actress and a reporter and felt offended later on. A fat shinigami (god of death) then appeared in front of fat Yagami and told him to write the name of the person he didn’t like. The actress apologised to fat Yagami and gave him an autograph at his notebook. In the end, the actress became fat as the person whose name was written at the notebook will be fat.

This is a funny video which I couldn’t stop laughing while watching, especially when the fat Shinigami appears. Hope that there will be more of such parody on different anime.

So what will you do if you saw a debu note along the street?

My First Post

1 05 2008

Ok. I will explain how I end up starting this blog on my first post.

It all started when I was planning my tour to Japan last year; I happened to visit this site called dannychoo.com. After browsing the site, I found out that the topics discussed were of my interest (If you want to know more about the culture of Japan and otaku, I highly recommend this site.) After my Japan tour, I started to think of doing something similar this site. Even though I wouldn’t be able to have the same standard as the site, but I’m curious about my ability of maintaining a blog.

However, the idea of only ends up in my mind. When I met my colleague Mr Abdul Halim (will be ex-colleague soon) at his office, he mentioned to me about starting a blog (Coincident?). He had started a blog and wanted me to join him by starting a blog too. Due to my laziness, nothing was done. In the end, he started to remind me (or nag me) about starting my own blog almost everyday. Finally, I decided to start this blog as this is also what I wanted to do in the beginning. If you are unable to find photographers for your wedding, you can find him. For more details, you can visit his blog.

OK, this will be all for my first post. Bye.
